Board of Recommendation

To support our study trip, we are honored to have a Board of Recommendation consisting of esteemed professionals and academics who endorse our initiative. Their recognition highlights the value of our trip and strengthens its credibility. While their role is primarily honorary, their support helps us build connections, secure partnerships, and enhance the overall impact of our journey.

By their letters of recommendation, these respected individuals emphasize the importance of our mission and contribute to making this experience as valuable and inspiring as possible. We would like to thank them for helping us to create wonderful oppurtunities. On this page we will introduce our Board of Recommendation shortly.

Prof. Marcel Levi

Prof. Dr. Marcel Levi is a Dutch internist and professor of medicine with an extensive background in healthcare leadership and scientific research. He is the chairman of the Dutch Research Council (NWO) since April 1, 2021, one of the key funding bodies for scientific research in the Netherlands. Previously, he served as the CEO of University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and as chairman of the Amsterdam UMC. With his expertise in internal medicine, healthcare policy, and scientific innovation, His expertise in medicine, healthcare policy, and research innovation is of great value, and we are honored to have him as a member of our Board of Recommendation.

Pascal van der Molen

Pascal van der Molen is the director of the Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers (KIVI), the leading professional association for engineers in the Netherlands. He has played a key role in fostering innovation and collaboration within the engineering sector. His leadership at KIVI focuses on strengthening professional networks, advancing technological development, and supporting engineers in their careers. We are honored to have him as a valued member of our Board of Recommendation.

prof.dr. Maroeska Rovers PhD

As scientific director of the TechMed Centre prof.dr. Maroeska Rovers PhD is an expert in medical technology and innovation. Driven by a passion for medical technology, she strives to contribute to the development of effective, affordable, and valuable innovations in healthcare. Her research, recognized as visionary and interdisciplinary, spans various fields such as surgery, epidemiology, health technology assessment, biomedical sciences, and policy. She focuses on translating groundbreaking research into practical tools that enhance patient care and medical practice worldwide.

ir. Remke Burie MBA

ir. Remke Burie MBA is Managing Director of the Technical Medical Centre of the University of Twente as well as interim CEO of Novel-T. As Managing Director he focuses from a faculty transcending perspective on contributing to the strategy development of the Technical Medical Center, on acquiring additional public and private funding, on partnerships for research and education and on the business management of the Technical Medical Centre.

prof.dr.ir. A. Veldkamp

Tom Veldkamp has been the Rector Magnificus of the University of Twente since November 27, 2020. He obtained his PhD at Wageningen University and Research Centre and was appointed as a professor of Land Dynamics at that university in 2002. In Wageningen, he also served as head of the Landscape Centre and scientific director of the Centre for Geo-Information and Remote Sensing.

With his commitment to the University of Twente we are very pleased to have his support on the Study Tour.

drs. Katja Haijkens

drs. Katja Haijkens is the Educational Director of the Technical Medical Centre of the University of Twente, even as the program director Biomedical Engineering and Technical Medicine. With her involvement in the programs as well as the Study Tour, we are very happy to add her to our Board of Recommendation!
